Educational Objectives of The Electrical & Electronics Engineering Program

After a few years of experience, our graduates are furnished with the following professional competences and career goals:

1. In professional settings, they can communicate effectively, and can put forward  their knowledge and skills with self-confidence.

a. By strengthening communication skills with the lectures given in English, and with the experiences of report writing and oral presentations throughout the program

2. They can develop a long term learning strategy that can keep them up to date in Electrical and Electronic Engineering fields.

a. By learning sources of information and ways of access to the information
b. By developing an awareness of life-long learning with the practices

3. They are preferred in energy, information and communications technology, defense and aerospace sectors where Electrical and Electronics engineers are extensively employed.

a. By improving their skills with the courses enriched with theoretical, applied and design components
b. By using modern laboratory facilities

4. They can work in global organisations with teams from different cultures and other disciplines along with Electrical and Electronics Engineering

a. With foreign-language education at Atılım University
b. With bilateral co-operation and international student exchange programs at Atılım University
c. With elective courses from different disciplines at Atılım University
d. With multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary projects at Atılım University

5. They produce new ideas, and start initiatives for converting them to economical and social benefits

a. With the fact that the department is preferred by prospective students who already have business experience and entrepreneurial skills
b.  With  Undergraduate Research Program (URP) and senior design project courses
c. With elective courses on entrepreneurship and project management

 


Student Outcomes


Our students are expected to acquire the following abilities:
 
1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics (including discrete mathematics, random processes, differential equations, linear algebra and complex variables), theoretical and experimental knowledge of science and of Electrical-Electronics Engineering in modeling and solving of engineering problems
2. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems, ability to choose and apply appropriate models and analysis methods for this
3. An ability to design a system, component, or process under realistic constraints to meet desired needs, and ability to apply modern design approaches for this
4. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice, ability to use information technologies effectively
5. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data for engineering problems
6. An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams, and ability of individual working
7. An ability to communicate effectively in Turkish, knowledge of, at least, one foreign language
8. Recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning, an ability to stay updated with  science and technology
9. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
10. Skills in project management, risk management and time management, recognition of international standards and methodologies, ability to think innovatively and find non-traditional approaches, awareness of sustainable development
11. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context, knowledge of contemporary issues, awareness of legal issues of engineering solutions
